Mercer is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Paramount Pension Trustees Limited (represented by Brian Buggy) as a co-trustee of the Mercer Master Trust in Ireland.
This addition to the trustee board further enhances the trustee oversight already provided by Irish Pensions Trust Limited (Ireland’s largest trustee company, serving clients for over 60 years).
Established in 2006, the Mercer Master Trust is one of the oldest master trusts in Ireland. It offers a complete, holistic, defined contribution (DC) solution governed by professional trustees.
Commenting on the appointment Anita Butler of Mercer said; “Mercer is pleased to welcome Brian Buggy to the Mercer Master Trust. He brings a wealth of experience including over 30 years as a practising solicitor in the areas of pensions, employee benefits law and pension trusteeship issues. This, alongside his long-term participation in a wide variety of pension related professional bodies in Ireland and the UK, positions him well to enhance the independent Trustee oversight of the trust alongside Irish Pensions Trust. In making this appointment our goal is to further enhance Mercer Master Trust’s reputation for excellence in governance and compliance”.
As the largest master trust of its kind in the country, the Mercer Master Trust has more than 90 employers and 20,000 people who benefit from its access to the Mercer Aspire Defined Contribution Solution, including unique investment capabilities supported by inbuilt communications, governance and administration. The Mercer Master Trust was the first Master Trust in Ireland to receive the IAPF QPS Award and was the recipient of the ‘Excellence in DC’ award at the 2019 Irish Pensions Awards.
Commenting on his appointment to the trustee board, Mr. Buggy said; “I am pleased to represent Paramount Pension Trustees Limited as an independent trustee to the Mercer Master Trust. I look forward to working with Irish Pensions Trust to serve the best interests of the Mercer Master Trust pension members”.
